  5. i've tried to post something like this twice but it keeps coming out pretentiously:

    i feel like a good place to start with levinas is his basic philosophical writings. but it's good, if you don't already, to have a basic understanding of kant, husserl, and heidegger. either way, the prose is gorgeous.
