Had strange editing ideas today for a complete/uncompleted draft of a novel from last year / got the urge to make strange offers/requests on here while at work / work had restricted blogger / did not make requests / glad I did not make requests / still thinking about strange editing ideas, as I seem to have no idea how to complete the novel. / If you have ideas about me having ideas send the ideas in a black package to the drop point

IE: here is a section I cut out of RICKY'S ANUS and I can't remember why or if I should or if RICKY is two books or not a book at all or what is what with what and I should lock myself in a room with knitting needles and not come back out, here is the the last third of one of the many sections cut from Ricky, in the original draft every section was one enormous paragraph with many runons, now it is different, what will happen to Ricky, what will happen to my life, this was from 'Ricky's Lungs,' I also cut out all the body names the sections were for, the longest graph in the original version of the 'book' was more than 11k words or something, why am I typing this or saying this, I have been listening to public radio this week, I'm sorry for everything I've ever done, I'm sorry:

** DELETION FROM RICKY'S LUNGS FROM RICKY'S ANUS**

Ricky’s mother had dressed herself in her finest lingerie, a pea green number from Frederick’s of Hollywood with cut holes where the nipples went and a drawing of a picture of a mouth licking its lips on the satin bulge of bush her panties made, and Ricky would you please answer the motherbastard goddamn door she squealed through the keyhole, do this in remembrance of me, she said in a head-voice, and Ricky was still there at the window watching and he saw the dead toddlers as they got dragged out of the sweaty bilge, and he saw on this certain one boy’s face, a neighbor boy he’d once paid three dollars to go dig a grave in their shared grass yard for the coming years he planned to kill, he saw on this boy’s face now slathered in house mud and Ricky’s salty armpit output how the boy’s eyes were still wide open, and yet the men were slamming him around as if he’d expired, as if he had nowhere else that he could be, and as Ricky slammed the window glass with his palm butt he watched the men make piercings in the boy’s chubby toddler cheeks, two new holes through which long bike chains were oiled and threaded, chains that ran straight up into the air, ascending so high and fast into the skylight and the mudding brash of gray glare that Ricky could not see what they’d been attached to, and then with a splay of two long fireman fingers the boy began to lift off by his head, and then men did not look or watch or wave to say goodbye as the child ascended, they did not flinch or bite their lips or remove their red sheened fireman hats adorned with logos and a promotional slogan penned dually by Frank Stanford and Chipper Jones, and in the last moments before the boy was consumed among the shine entirely, Ricky could see the boy with his wide eyes give a thumbs up and an A-OK sign though to Ricky nothing felt okay, and the boy winked just right at Ricky anyway, still squirming, and then the boy had been scarfed too far into the air to see, and the boy was up there somewhere, and in the light the trees were trickled with new blood, and as the men arranged together to append the next three other dead boys in this same fashion, Ricky, breathing Ricky, and with his mother’s voice vibrating the liquid all around him, swam to the front door and tried the knob, and yet no amount of wheedling or knob jostle or keyhole begging or finger keys would make the door come open, and on the other side there was the knock, it must have been fifty of them out there by now, all chanting Ricky’s name, Ricky assumed it was his Ricky and not the well-tanned Ricky they were wanting, though now to some extent they were the same, at least Ricky hoped they were the same, could all Ricky be one Ricky?, inside of titular Ricky his nodes were crying, he had mayonnaise all slathered on his big intestine where some of the parasites inside the other Ricky were preparing to gnosh down on him, candles had been lit, there was a white wine on order from Peru, the door was getting knocked on so hard now Ricky thought he could feel it in his bowels but really it was the parasites, and terror of it was so warm it was exquisite, Ricky’s tendons were popping and flags of international distribution had been erected, and Ricky felt something black come over him, he felt his hair comb over, he felt the rattle of a giant window in him shattered, and in the wet Ricky made his body spin and Ricky threw himself corkscrewed against the door, and Ricky barreled through the door and the door came open and Ricky came out the other side and on the other side of the door was Ricky’s mother’s house, dry as a bone, and Ricky’s mother was standing in the entry foyer there before him, stitched in her crotchless bone-white lingerie and her hair had been rolled up in hot wax ripples on her head like pastries, and behind Ricky’s mother, over her shoulder, Ricky could see through another window that before now had not been there, and through the window over Ricky’s mother’s shoulder Ricky saw America, and over America Ricky saw a figure squatting, and Ricky’s mother was screaming at him, Ricky’s mother had Ricky’s name inside her mouth and Ricky’s name was coming out and it was the Ricky name of every Ricky and behind Ricky the front door closed and Ricky turned and turned again. Ricky with his hot flat hands flat on his hot flat face set in his head.

there is too much light in this damn room

I interviewed Dave Housley for Bookslut

Thanks to JA Tyler for nominating IN THE RAPE YEAR OF THE GHETTO TODDLER THE HOUSES WILL AWAKEN for a Pushcart, I am sure the Pushcart ma'ams will just kiss their fingers when they think about the idea of including a tale of hyperbolic toddler rape in their edition, $$$$$$$. Regardless, the nod is most appreciated.

If you are from the government and are reading this, I can't help it that my blog shows up in google as the top result for so many keyword variations of boy scout porn, it bothers me too.

I have been spending all day every day pretty much editing SCORCH ATLAS, it is almost due. I vastly reorganized the stories into a much better fit and arc with the outside eye of Ryan Call, which helped a lot. After so many times reading the stories I am finally beginning to feel they are done done. Nitpicking though is making me slightly insane. I feel paranoid or that someone is touching the back of my head without me being able to feel it. I feel more excited about the book now than at any other point.

To take breaks from editing SCORCH I have been writing chapters of a 'more normal' book which will eventually turn in on itself most likely and also become fucked' and also editing RICKY'S ANUS, which seems like no kind of relaxation, but it's all I can think to do. Some parts of the book are frightening me but I have been really surprised how little editing has been required beyond the first 20 pp or so when I was still getting revved into the idea. Other than formatting and some things I'm doing with structural punctuation, the sentences are almost exactly as I've wanted. I have sent little pieces here and there to magazines we'll see who vomits on what.

The scene where Ricky finds his grandmother inside his mattress wrapped in hair and proceeds to try to cut her out is particularly vibratory, here is a graph:

The head of Ricky’s cock was eating a plate of spaghetti Ricky had hid from his mother under a false bottom in the nightstand where Ricky had also hidden pictures of the sun, pictures that would unlock the secret room lodged in the Epcot Center if presented at the right hour with the right disease. The years altogether future-coming in one long black nod in Ricky’s blood.

There are maybe 2 current editors in the world who would publish this book, if that maybe, yadda, I may print it on rice paper and open a restaurant where it will be served for all meals. Maybe it should be called RICKY'S BLOOD instead of RICKY'S ANUS.

no fuck that

Hey, that's neat Blake. We think that's really swell Blake. No, Blake, really, totally sweet. You have a doorknob on your flub.

I don't know why my imagination has tended toward such violent sexual imagery this year. Maybe 09 will be about fish and lanyards.

I can't tell you the # of people who have msg'd me recently saying some variation of: I hate everyone.

HTML Giant is a pea's carrot.

If this blog were on TV, I would have a guy walk out from the side of the screen now in a red/white plaid suit coat and a straw hat and do a hand-slappy dance with a campy grin to announce: YOU CAN STILL PREORDER EVER, MY LOVEYS!!!

Sean Kilpatrick is lipstick beverages

Sean Kilpatrick interviewed me for his Anorexic Chlorine Sex Toy Museum. We talk about rape and Wigs n Beepers and editing and film and William Gass, et al.

His interview blog has so much reading material on it, including interviews with Daniel Borzutsky, Gene Morgan, Letitia Trent, Mike Young, Tao Lin, Kevin Doran, etc. He asks real questions.

I'm pissed at Sean right now because he apparently did not tell me he has a new book coming out from Six Gallery Press and has work forthcoming in Fence also. He is the new truth, I promise.

If you have not yet read his story HUBBY, you are missing probably my favorite short story of the year.

Sean Kilpatrick's first full length book of poems is free to read online from BlazeVox, and is fucking awesome: THE MAN WHO FOLLOWED ME HOME.

The book we are writing is the best thing I have ever touched. This week the father in it had a latte with David Berkowitz, built a chocolate replica of Auschwitz in the attic, a turtle was set on fire, and a woman got a portal into the universe rubbed into her flesh by a tutu.

It is real.

The Guardian did a piece on Michael Kimball's postcard project featuring 4 samples, including mine. The scope of this project just keeps getting bigger. Michael is a force.

EVER just went to the printers. It is more than I could have imagined. Sneak peeks and bonus shits coming.

The last 20 seconds of this video is almost an excerpt from RICKY'S ANUS. The rest makes me happy as well:

Time to get fat.
Please have a day of caloric rest.

Bacon sweater

Something had been wrong with a few weeks. I was sleeping right. Out 10 min into head on pillow. Dreams all normal, at least for me. Usually my sleep is so scattered and violent, I actually started to get scared when I was just having normal person dreams: if I got stuck in that permanently I don't know what I'd do. I need the raw.

However thankfully, my post 3 AM bedtime has returned, and last night I can't remember what happened, but I know I had on the bacon sweater.

I usually sleep with my hands in fists. When I do not cut my nails sometimes my hands will almost bleed.

Final version of EVER has been turned in, and now I am on to editing SCORCH ATLAS for publication. I think I have 2-3 more weeks until it is due, I should probably check on that.

I spent about 5 hours yesterday line editing the first section of 2 sections in the longest story in the book, 'Seabed,' which was one of the first stories I wrote in the collection, and before I had fully gotten into the mind of what the aura of it would become. Editing in that way is grueling, but I am really beginning to see the texture of the whole thing take shape. Fortunately a lot of the stories feel mostly right where I want them, and it's more just the ones that I didn't have the full-on mindset for when they were created that I am trying to make exactly right.

I think this kind of encombing method for the stories has come out of my recent drive to buy up all the Lish-edited Knopf titles from 1977-95, and seeing how a lot of those books have such a singularity of pitch and 'this is a whole' to them even though the stories are often so widely toned and of different natures. I really want this book to have that object feel to it, and studying those singularities of text has been really great and invigorating. So we shall see.

Editing is such another beast to germinating to me, in a way I think I like it more, as you really begin to see the thing under the thing, but I think also my that disruption in my sleep pattern came from spending more and more time on editing rather than getting new words out: as if my blather contained made me more normal. A rash of new stories though has got me back in the bubble, though I am going to try to put those aside for the next two weeks at least and really get this into what it should be.

Also continuing to work on the collaborative book with Sean Kilpatrick, which is essentially at this point the script for a very destroyed anti-porn blacklisted by Stalin for how the slum grease would appear on his necktie when he watched, then pushed through several gelatinizing devices that were then stored in the brain cells of an 8 year old Autistic child to be deformed by their terror puberty.

When I was reading through what we'd done I thought: if my employers, or my mother, or anyone who knows me sees this...

I am talking to myself.

We are going to go see Synedoche New York in a couple hours.

It looks pretty interesting. I am by no means a Charlie Kaufman buff, though I really like BEING JOHN MALKOVICH and ETERNAL SUNSHINE, but you can't really go wrong with Phillip Hoffman. 'Adaptation' I thought had a great start but I hate the meta-unraveling of the story into a Hollywood style script, even though it was a funny idea, it seemed too forced to me. Plus I hate Nicholas Cage. Goddamn I hate that guy. He reminds me of someone coming through a burning room to save you wearing no shirt and with pantyhose on and with his face stuck in one endless 'impregnate me' expression.

I reread party of RICKY'S ANUS for the first time the other day since finishing. What in the name of god have I done. If anyone ever sees this, something will happen: either my scalp will be removed or my scalp will be removed and there will be a tiny white donkey cooking grits.

OK I will say it: God it's fucking good.

Crush the shitty magician

No one knew who we were for Halloween.

*Dan Wickett wins*

In this photo I really had the look down, I think:

Peewee passed the Bar the other day, first try, good job Josh.

Dressed in such manner, I realized I talk and think like this character a lot on a daily basis, especially while driving, which then encouraged me to think I should reevaluate how I act.

3 other things:

1. 'Shithead' is a fun thing to say loud.

2. Hair gel sucks dick.

3. I will abide by the bolo tie in the future, for sure.

Got a galley of Brian Evenson's LAST DAYS in mail today, all other things in life will be put on hold. New Brian Evenson is probably top of my list of things I get excited about.

I have a short piece that will be on the Underland site soon, it had begun as the beginning of a very violent novel that I stopped writing for now, I will come back to it maybe.

I think finished a draft of RICKY'S ANUS yesterday, it is long, I put it in the think box, I know when I begin the 2nd draft it will grow by another 20-30% probably, unless maybe it shrinks by up to half, I have not decided, I am not going to open it for a while, I like the way I am thinking about it, 'it will likely never see the light of day.'

Immediately after finishing RICKY'S ANUS I decided it was time to write something more planned, something 'not me,' I started another novel, I am trying something completely different this time, something more structured and planned, out of the mode of the last year of writing, 'challenging myself n shit by playing by more rules n shit.' I will not say any of the words I say all the time this time. I will 'have some idea.' Let's see what happens.

EVER is almost done. Final proofing, finishing cover, wrapping that bitch up. Put it on your Christmas list, I think. I am making some things to go with it. More there soon.

A Calamari Press night is planned for March 5 with me, Robert Lopez & Gary Lutz (!!!) @ Word Bookstore in Brooklyn, mark it with a B.

Eugene Lim's FOG & CAR + boinking in a baby year

Last night I sat down to start reading Eugene Lim's FOG & CAR, the other of the two debut books from Ellipsis Press along with Eugene Marten's WASTE, which I loved and talked about a while back, I hadn't meant to read for very long but found myself unable to stop reading the book. FOG & CAR is a strange amalgam of several ideas, it begins with a dissolved marriage from which both ends begin to branch and splinter and spread back into each other in weird ways. I was surprised to be so captivated by a book about a ruined marriage, which it is only on the surface, what it really is is a puzzle and a book of worming forms, sometimes the tense shifts or lines are layered and/or repeated, there is a lot of subtle innovation, refreshing.

The first section uses these calm and almost Lutz-like renditions of the two divorcees, Fog and Car, trying to smooth their lives out into something, Eugene Lim writes about the cleaning of houses, the method of a swimming routine, and all in this meditative, language-conscious but not overtly languaged and extremely absorbing way, the book also continues to evolve by stretching the forms of the way the words are delivered, but again, in calm and nuanced methods.

In grad school Amy Hempel had us read a Mark Richard story, I can't remember the name of it, I think it is the first one in THE ICE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WORLD, Amy, in perhaps her only 'lecture-like moment' of the workshops talked some about how Richard was able to show the passage of time by using fields and dogs rather than talking about time, and how it opened the language and the feel of the words in this surprising way, I think Eugene Lim's descriptions here worked on me in that way, though rather than over the function of time it was over the function of distancing and grief, so much so that I couldn't stop wanting to propel through it, and I was so pleased to find myself reading a book supposedly about relationships about still feeling completely engrossed, as I hate relationships in books usually, for their wheel-spinning, I think people who get excited about Richard Yates would really enjoy the meditative stancing of the early sections especially.

Then there are two more sections in which Lim continues to open the way the story is built into an almost Paul Auster kind of maze, path-inducing manner, there is following and weird rooms and strange phenomenon that continue to be braided together but left open in other strands.

Here is a sentence from the book that maybe exhibits the balance of strange and familiar sense of both situation and language in FOG & CAR: "He forgot his name and became her bellybutton."

Then, in the last third of the book, which begins to develop into a really strange configuration of earlier elements and a linking of space, I hit a page, a strange development involving a man in an empty room and an elevator, and a little later, further linking, which made me stop and touch the book against my chest. I remember not knowing what to do having read it, it was very late by then and I'd stayed up longer than I meant to, and yet I wanted to keep reading, and yet couldn't the page had stopped me in a way that I felt I needed to think about rather than go on with the rest of the book right there, I went to bed. I could not stop thinking about the book in such a way that I stayed awake for several further hours, and when I finally did sleep I had a dream about writing about the book as I am now, and other dreams branching off from the book. When I woke I walked around for a while and then finished reading.

FOG & CAR is new in familiar ways and familiar in new ways, and altogether a thing that turned my mind on in such a mode that I could not turn it off.

Along with WASTE, if you haven't gotten on board already, both are available from Ellipsis as a package deal. I can't imagine an innovative fiction press with a better introductory one-two punch.

Right before I woke up for the last time this morning, I had a dream where Marilyn Manson was talking to me, he was speaking a quote, the quote, I knew somehow, was from someone named 'Vivino', talking about chess strategy, which Manson was applying to something about writing he and I had been talking about, I have no idea why I was talking to Marilyn Manson about writing, the quote was, "Begin with a false position & allow the position to become." This may become the epigram for RICKY'S ANUS, which I am deep in. Deep in Ricky's Anus.

I got a galley of Jesse Ball's new forthcoming novel THE WAY THROUGH DOORS in the mail today. Fuck yeah.

There is a new issue of BUST DOWN THE DOOR AND EAT ALL THE CHICKENS, I have a story in it, as does Sam Pink, Ofelia Hunt, Mike Young, Matthew Simmons, D. Harlan Wilson, Darby Larson and several others, I can't wait to read it, the cover is amazing. Thanks to Bradley Sands for his hard work and wild mind.

The issue is only $5 plus a little shipping, 'the squarest price in town.'

What year was it when we still had to go away

Tonight in Atlanta we are launching the first reading of Solar Anus reading series, flagstone spoken into by the magnificent JOHANNES GORANSSON and local novelist CHRIS BUNDY, the event is an early one 6 PM at Beep Beep Gallery off Ponce, this will be a monthly thing from here on out though future extension will be likely at a later time and at a more regular venue. If you ever want to come to Atlanta or are coming to Atlanta and want to read, we'd likely love to have you.

The trains outside my apartment today are really loud, it sounds like something metal is being ripped to shreds.

After I typed that the sound stopped.

All I have been able to think about lately is Ricky's Anus. The book is at 31k words now, I think the current section I am writing, Ricky's Blood, is going to be one very long unbroken graph that will maybe last 1/3rd of the book, this book is going to be long, I am sorry I mentioned I was thinking about deleting it, that probably wouldn't happen, I am not massive in that sense, I am done thinking about it outside the moment. I feel really strangely electric and I am not sure why and I will keep it that way by shutting my mouth quick.

I randomly happened on rereading William Gass's afterward to one of my favorite books OMENSETTER'S LUCK, I had forgotten there was an afterword, in it Gass discusses how he had written a different version of the book which had been stolen, and so he proceeded in despair to reconstruct and rewrite: the afterword also contains meditations on his 8 years of rejection before publication arose, grappling with a text's destruction, the feeling of 'why the hell am I going through all the trouble for this?,' and a lot of other things that have seemed central to my mind lately. It is a fantastic little essay.

Here is a section on his rewriting the book:

During the months that followed, I rewrote Omensetter's Luck as if in a series of trances which I almost systematically entered. I sometimes felt I was recovering the lost text exactly, not by trying to remember what it had been originally or how I'd written it, but by becoming weary--weary and unthinking, weary and unfeeling too--eventually so deep in the mine of my past work that the mine worked me.

Wearing, unthinking, unfeeling: it's funny, why does that seem to be a fruitful state? I am deep in something, I'm not sure

You can read the brief Afterword in whole here on Google, and I recommend OMENSETTER'S LUCK as highly as I can recommend something.

I am reading THE LONG TRIAL OF NOLAN DUGATTI by Stephen Graham Jones, according to the acknowledgments I think he wrote the book in 72 hours, it is about a man who works at a helpline for a video game no one ever plays and whose father wrote him a series of suicide notes, failed, I should go finish the book, next I am reading Eugene Lim's FOG & CAR which I am excited about after WASTE and having read the first few setions of FOG & CAR in anticipation.

Interior layout on EVER is in study-mode, we are reaching finalization periods, I hope to spend the rest of the weekend proofing and proofing and proofing, there is something about the final stamp of what words a book will be made of that makes me both anxious and excited and maybe nervous some, like I am going to miss something that I will see the first time I read the book in print that will make me cringe, it seems no matter how many times you look at something over and over and over something new wrong grabs you, I don't want to feel that, I will keep working.

i had a dream about babies being destroyed the past two nights
i should stop talking shit about babies when i am awake

HTMLgiant.com

HTMLGIANT is live

HTML Giant is a thing Gene Morgan approached me about doing, 'approached,' we wanted to do a website that focuses the indie press and online writing news in a central format, sort of like Pitchfork or Bookslut or Gawker for online writing and indie presses only, bringing the goods and becoming things, it will continue to become things, it will have internet writing related news outside of the big press related news blogs, things will happen, I will eat a sandcastle in my parents' basement,

We will feature writers and journals and such, if you have things to say about it there is htmlgiant [at] gmail [dot] com, I'd prefer no emails to my private email my balls are on top of the Sears Tower, I realized the other day that Gene is the dad of the internet, I will call him Dad from now on, there is a lot on the site already, we are going to slowly leak until we have eaten a conch shell the size of somewhere, more is planned and brimming, there are lots of good writers also blogging the news already, they wear derby hats in their room when they are writing, it is required, they must also wear translucent pants and cry a lot.

Please check it out and bookmark and get fed.

I am live inside Whole Foods
I sat next down to a dude where there was a place to plug in my laptop
He looked at me and stood up
Then he left
Hey
I have enough gas here to last through the end of the week, all the gas stores are fucked
They have been for about a week
On Saturday I got gammed on long islands at the bar at Applebee's for a joke
There was a chubby ex-fratboy at a table with his titty wife and their two very young kids they looked like 4 or 5
It was 1030 at night
The whole family was dressed in red
UGA was getting their ass kicked, they were down by almost 30 at the end of the third
Still every time UGA completed a pass or something the father clapped really loud and shouted positive things
He said stuff like 'Bout time boys!' and 'Now we're talkin!'
When UGA scored the mother made sure the children both stopped drawing on the placemats and looked at the screen too and clapped and smiled and said Woo
Their dedication was steadfast and powerful
I drank the long island iced teas for 2.5 a pop and looked around
The family sometimes seemed very close to me and sometimes seemed
very far away and sometimes they seemed just the distance they really were away

All I really want to think about is RICKY'S ANUS it has 20k words so far, Ricky's body is filling out, it is 'my best work,' no one else will think so I will read it aloud to myself in a small room and say hi to the children across from me in the Whole Foods wearing the berets.

Oh boy the debate oh boy beer oh boy talking oh boy what is going to happen oh boy where is gas oh boy they are both talking and the same things are

Where is 'Couesin Larry'
Where is 'Coursin Larry'
Nothing happened to it yet yet
Where is 'Couesin Larry'

I saw a guy get hit by a truck last night, his head made a flood of tea, there were dogs lapping at the tea, the glare in the McDonald's sign went tinted slightly from the gyration of the blood on the air

God, RICKY'S ANUS, Ricky's body is becoming

Got 2 new books in the mail yesterday, one pornographic novel I should have read by now that I will discuss once I have an opinion, I have high hopes, I am a doubter, I haven't been able to pay attention to books lately, I hope these will help, the other is James Boice's MVP, I read an excerpt from Boice's forthcoming novel in the new Salt Hill, I really liked it, it actually felt DFWian without trying too hard to be DFWian, I had had MVP on my buy list for a while, after I read that excerpt I made it happen, I have high hopes, I am trying not to be a doubter

I REALLY WANT TO WRITE A LONG DIATRIBE-STYLE POST ABOUT HOW THE NEWEST RELEASE BY THIS ONE INDIE PRESS WHICH IS A WORK BY A SEMI FAMOUS AUTHOR IS AN EXAMPLE OF INADVERTENT REPRESSION AND ANTI FREE THINKING AND DESTRUCTIVE TO THE GENERAL WAY IN A MENTALLY DAMAGING QUASI BARACK OBAMA FAUX GLIMMER OF LIGHT, I'm not going to do it though because I don't want to get my panties dirty and I don't want to make so much noise now, I just want to be inner-violent in a pastel condition which will divert itself through my mental sternum

Rewatched Todd Solondz's PALINDROMES the other day, it is supposedly a sequel to WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE, it has recurring characters, it did the 'several actors of varying size and shape and gender play the main character' before I'M NOT THERE did it, the character ranges from being played by a very young black girl who talks with an extreme lisp, an effeminate young boy, Jennifer Jason Leigh, an extreme large black woman, a preteen white girl, another girl, it had a lot of laughs that would make other people uncomfortable, I like how Solondz is the only director I know of who can have characters who talk in extreme POV ways on 'issues' and yet it doesn't feel like the director is trying to be something, I wonder what he is doing now, PALINDROMES features a rescue home of malformed or sick children who form a Christian pop group, moreso it is about abortion, it has Dr. Dan, it was fun to watch some

I watched the titles to the Shining in HD last night on an hd TV I need an HD TV it was totally wowwww owwwww I fell asleep to NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 5 and had a dream that all of my dvds were on the lawn at my parents house in long racks because we'd moved the house innards outside, I wanted them back in, no one would help me, the sun was low in the sky there was a weird light, a van full of men pulled up and got out, I knew they were going to try to take my DVDs, I put one of the racks in the back of a white Jeep Cherokee, the men were all standing around me on the driveway not saying anything and not going for the DVDs, they were just looking at me with no expression, there was an extreme anxiety in me, they would not act and yet always seemed about to, I found an aluminum softball bat, I hit one of them in the face, it impacted the middle of his face and made a soft nudge between his eyes under which there was metal but he didn't flinch, the impact made a steely sound but did not bowl the man over, the bat shook in my hands, the men just kept standing there, I hit another one of the men, the same thing happened, there was something in their white van, the light was weird, I couldn't make anything happen, they were just watching me and I was afraid for my DVDs the most

Then they were gone and there was a guy I used to know in the street, I was dressed in a suit to go to high school, I was late, it was raining in the weird light now, the guy in the street wanted me to stop and talk to him, he was angry at me and seemed unraveled as if he could do anything at any moment, we talked, he maintained neutral anger, I was afraid he would do something to my parents when I left, he started up a hill and I got in a car and followed him trying to talk, we were both going very fast all of a sudden and shouting back at each other, the guy had a weird smeared look on his face, like he had hives, we came to a curve in the road and I turned but he did not and the wooden lip on the street threw him into a person's yard, in the yard there were little girls playing with their mother, the guy was bleeding, the wooden lip of the yard had these huge nails in it that had ripped his clothes and ripped huge gashes out of his flesh, he was bleeding from the head, the girls and the mother were looking, my friend got up and started toward them, he was naked from the waist down, his dick was hanging out in front of the girls, I saw him from behind him with the dick hanging down between his legs and the girls thereon further and his blood in his hair, I didn't know what to do, the mother went inside and left the girls outside, I made the guy sit down the blood was coming out of him a whole lot I used these cloths that were all over the place, I couldn't make the blood stop, the guy was watching me smiling, the girls were coming toward us in the yard

I started a new novel two days ago, it is called RICKY'S ANUS, it is about Ricky and his body parts and his mother and his mother's house. It is aggressive in tone and mostly of dream logic and nasty emo violence and it is probably already on the verge of if not completely unpublishable in a normative sense except by someone of grand vision, though it has narrative and is very sexy, I don't care. I am already having the most fun writing I have had in years writing this thing, making yourself laugh is good, for more than a week I had just been sitting staring at the keyboard wanting to throw up on it and now I am throwing up into it, but it feels like new throw up and anyway it is making my eyes bulge, RICKY'S ANUS is going to explode, I like to talk out loud to myself about RICKY'S ANUS, I feel good about it, it fulfills what Wallace was calling for in his essay THE NATURE OF THE FUN, to write from a place that you enjoy, because that is why you started writing in the first place, thank you brother Markus for reminding me to reread that essay.

It is a long way in the future, but I am going to be reading at the Quickies! reading series in Chicago on February 12 during AWP, with Peter Markus (thank you again P), Robert Lopez, Brian Evenson, Kim Chinquee, and Janet Desaulniers. I will wear my pee pants to that one, I will be crying in my under life before I get there and going apeshit in my banana yard as I pretend I have any business among all that wonder.

Looks like No Colony is going to have an AWP table split with NOO Journal and Publishing Genius, we are getting our dunk tank together and a couple of shorties to shred black metal riffs on pedestals behind our table, if not that then at least we will be loud and drunk and have something sickening happening, I suggested to Adam Robinson I dress up as Gordon Lish and sign books and Adam said he would dress up as Ray Carver and sign books and I could cross out his signature and make mine on top of it, regardless, we will have our Shenises on (have you seen this shenis?) and things will happen requiring great intestinal fortitude of our aisle mates, who will hopefully be the Paris Review and like Poetry magazine (does Poetry go to that shit, aren't they building a warhead)?

I really like this: Soak Up The Sun by Dmitry Yegorov on elimae.

When will Peter Berghoef have a book the size of my face, I want to read it, Peter B you are smart.
